Academic Year Housing Application

Fee Details

• Parking is by permit only. There is no free parking at St. Andrew’s Hall.
• Payments are due in advance on the 1st day of each month.
• Postdated cheques should be provided upon arrival.
• Security deposits and first month’s fees are to be paid within the time specified in the letter/e-mail approving the residence application.

Lease Arrangements

• Guarantees of accommodation for the next academic year will not be given.
• No month-to-month lease arrangements can be made following a lease period.

Eligibility Requirements

• To qualify for residency at St. Andrew’s Hall during the Academic Year, the applicant must be a full-time student (9 credits per term) at the University of British Columbia or at an affiliated college.
• Undergraduate students must be registered in winter session for a minimum of 9 credits in each of Term 1 and Term 2 or equivalent as defined by UBC or the colleges.
• Graduate students must get confirmation of full time status from the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
• Distance Education courses that do not require classroom attendance will not be considered.

Residency Priorities

• Since St. Andrew’s Hall is a college of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, priority is given to Presbyterian theology students and others from our congregations.
• Priority will be given to leases for 12 months or longer for all suite types.
• Priority will be given to existing residents of St. Andrew’s Hall who apply before February 15th for the next academic year. However, St. Andrew’s Hall reserves the right to refuse housing applications from existing residents.

Booking Process

• Bookings must be arranged in advance and are subject to availability at the time when a complete application is received.
• No accommodation is guaranteed until confirmed by St. Andrew’s Hall via email .
• All applications must include a VISA/MasterCard number to guarantee payment and process applications. However, credit cards are not accepted for payment.

Payment Details

• All payments can be made by cash, Interac e-Transfer, cheque or money order payable to St. Andrew’s Hall in Canadian funds.
• We do not accept credit/debit card, US dollars, and US cheques.
• Full payment is due upon arrival and prior to receiving the keys.
• Parking is by permit only. There is no free parking at St. Andrew’s Hall.

Check-in

• Check-in is between 2:00pm to 4:30pm.
• It is important that we know whether you will be arriving during or after office hours, so please be sure to indicate this on your application form.
• A valid credit card and a photo ID of guest must be presented at check-in.
• Only pre-arranged late arrivals (until 1:00am) can be accommodated.
• A $30 CAD fee is charged per room for arrivals after 10:00pm.

Check-out

• Check-out is before 10:00am.
• Guests are expected to do basic cleaning of their units with cleaning supplies provided.
• We ask that the bed linen is left in the room and that all garbage and food be removed when departing.
• Keys must be left at the front desk of the Housing Office or in the Early Morning Key Drop-off outside of office hours on the day of scheduled departure.

Groups Info

• Information regarding group accommodation can be provided upon request.
• Please contact housing with specific inquiries.
• There is no special rate for groups.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation notice should be given in writing.

To change or cancel a booking, notice is calculated back from check-in (2:00pm) on the scheduled day of arrival.

Note: If a guest doesn’t show up on the scheduled check-in day without cancellation notice, the total bill amount will be charged.

Groups: Specific cancellation policy for a group is determined and advised upon confirmation, depending on its size, length of stay, etc.
