St. Andrew's Hall

Faithful Presence. Public Witness.

A message from the Dean

Welcome to St. Andrew’s Hall. We’re glad you’ve found your way here and hope this glimpse into our life together conveys the depth, warmth, and purpose of our community at the University of British Columbia. St. Andrew’s Hall stands on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam) people, whose hospitality continues to shape our own.

Since 1955, St. Andrew’s Hall has served as the Presbyterian Church in Canada’s college at UBC—a place of Christian formation in the heart of one of the world’s great public universities. Our calling is to nurture leaders whose lives are rooted in Scripture, attentive to culture, and sustained by prayer, hospitality, and shared life.

Through our Centre for Missional Leadership and our expanding programs in theological and missional formation, we equip both ordained and lay leaders to embody the gospel with imagination, courage, and faithfulness in a rapidly changing world. Our commitments—rigorous theological study, a missional imagination shaped by the gospel, and a community of abiding welcome—guide everything we do.

St. Andrew’s Hall is also home to a vibrant residential community. With 93 units for UBC students and their families, our residence is more than housing—it is a place where hospitality becomes formation, where neighbours become friends, and where daily rhythms of welcome, prayer, and shared life take root.

Whether you are exploring theological study, seeking a community of Christian formation, or looking for a home for your family while studying at UBC, we invite you to discover life with us.

Welcome here, and welcome home.

More Than Housing

Life at St. Andrew’s Hall is shaped by a vision of community that goes far beyond providing a place to live. Rooted in Christian hospitality and animated by a commitment to formation, our residential community is a place where students and families from around the world find belonging, support, and shared purpose.

In the midst of a large public university, St. Andrew’s Hall offers a counter cultural rhythm of welcome, neighbourliness, and care—where friendships deepen over shared meals, children play together in our courtyards, and residents discover that home can also be a place of growth, reflection, and renewal. Here, housing becomes community, and community becomes formation.
